Tom Carney – Peachtree City, GA

Tom Carney and his son Tommy have lived in Peachtree City for the last 22 years and now own the Splash and Dash Groomerie & Boutique tucked conveniently in the East Shopping Center.  The father-son duo is accommodating southern hospitality into the grooming world. “I like the fact that we know so many of our clients by name, and they know us by name,” Tom says. “We’ve been open over two years now, and the number one way we grow is making sure we have happy customers.”

On a typical day when you walk into the shop, you are greeted by the shop’s manager Tommy, who many mistake for his father. “Some say we look like brothers, some say we look like father-son, but I like to think it’s because I look young and he looks old,” Tom says laughing.

The store opened in February of 2015 and before this, Tom worked as a director in a corporate position, then set out to open his own pet salon. Tom found new joy helping to care for his customers and their pets. “It’s a really good thing to get up to in the morning. I loved when my dog got home from getting baths or getting groomed. It’s fun helping people making sure they have a nice clean, good-looking dog.”

At home, Tom has two dogs. A 105 lbs Boxer, Husky, Lab mix he thinks looks more like a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Pawges. His other smaller 45 lb Sheltie-mix is named Elliot. As a pet owner, Tom knows the parental concerns of caring for pets. “We have a shop that is dedicated to making sure dogs have a good experience. I think that’s the most important thing—we care.”
